Good thing I don't "work"

For someone who doesn't have a "real" job, I've been so freakin' busy these past few months I don't know whether I'm coming or going. I used to read books like they were going out of style. No matter what, I ALWAYS made time to plop down on the couch and read. Right now I have, wait, let me count, um carry the one, subtract the 3, Ok at least 7 new books that have been purchased over the last 6 months just sitting on the shelf collecting dust because I haven't had time to read them. I got 2 Borders gift cards for Christmas. Normally I would have knocked people down to get to Borders to redeem those cards within 2 days of receiving them. Eh, I'll get around to it hopefully sometime before winter ends. There's no hurry, though. I have plenty of unread books to get through first.

I used to spend my mornings perusing my favorite blogs and websites. I barely have enough time to rapidly skim through my favorite blogs let alone post comments. Textsfromlastnight.com? PeopleofWalmart.com? Haven't even looked at them in several weeks. Facebook? Only on Tuesday nights when I post highlights and comments from Thing 2's hockey games for my friend Ramona who gets a kick out my hockey comments. Especially last season when Thing 2's team sucked big time and she never even scored a single goal because her coach didn't understand Who She Was and stuck her on defense instead of forward where she belongs. New season, new coach and in 2 games she has 1 goal and 2 assists.

So what have I been doing instead of lolling around since I don't "work?" Well, there's this thing called Motorcycle Racing and I'm in it up to my steering stabilizer which I don't really have because I don't have a motorcycle let alone a steering stabilizer which is a total necessity if you race off-road motorcycles which I don't but TheManTheMyth and Thing 1 both do and yes, they do have steering stabilizers on their race bikes. The 2010 racing season officially started last weekend with our motorcycle club, the Jackrabbits MC, holding the first race of the year. On top of that I've had over 250 riders needing their competition licenses processed so that they could come out and race the 2010 Jackrabbits MC Hare & Hound so between THAT and and preparing for our race I've been a little bit busy.

You'd think that now that the race is over, I would be free, to do what I want to do but nooooooo. Guess who does the race results? That would be ME. I've been doing our results for well over 10 years, probably 15 years and my office is filled with fender cards and lap sheets and entry forms and Lucy has to be right here with Mamma (that's me). Luckily I've got this part down to an art and well, I'm done with the preliminary results. Now I just have to wait for the fallout from having to DQ a "name" rider but hey, Mr. Baja 1000 team winner missed a check.

In other racing news, Thing 1 was recently interviewed for a desert racing website and they asked for a photo of him to include in the profile. As a joke, I sent THIS:
and they used it! They LOVED it! Laughed my butt off I did. Kevin? Not so pleased but as I pointed out, this is what happens when he refuses to let me take his picture.

I've been doing pretty darn good on my "No fast food" decision. Yes, I did fall off the wagon but that was Sunday night driving home from the race and I hadn't eaten since 7:00am and I was ready to gnaw someone's arm and we got down the mountain pass and there was a Mickey D's right there and before I knew it, my car was in the parking lot and I was eating a cheeseburger and fries. And ya know what? It didn't really taste all that good but it filled me up. I've also mostly given up soda with the exception of a single Fresca in my nightly cocktail. I drink decaf Green Tea throughout the day and I do feel a difference. I stepped on the scale this morning and I've lost a whopping 3lbs and my rings are spinning on my finger whereas 2 weeks ago they were practically cutting off my circulation. So yay me.

Ok, I gotta get back to my Not a Job. I've got a couple hundred checks that have to be recorded and then deposited at the bank, the kitchen is a mess, it's time to switch laundry loads and hell, I just want to sit on the couch and read the new Vanity Fair about Tiger Williams. Yes, I bought a magazine despite my vow not to buy magazines. But it's TIGER. The slut.
